I am thrilled you are interested in attending the Pilgrimage to Assisi:
Contemplative Yoga Retreat next June 5-14, 2022
After spending two weeks in Assisi in June, 2019, I felt that Assisi was one of the most beautiful, peaceful, and holy places I have ever visited. I overheard more than one person say—and I felt it in my bones— that the very stones of Assisi are infused with the spirit of St. Francis. In the village of Assisi and in the
surrounding countryside, we will visit some of the most sacred places in all of Italy and the world.
What to Expect on this Retreat
I will be co-hosting this retreat with my dear friend and yoga instructor, Mariah Rose Crump. Our retreat will include 10 days and 9 nights with plenty of time to drop into the slower pace of Italian living and the slower pace of a pilgrim’s contemplative life.
Our daily schedule will include morning and evening yoga, meditation and contemplative practices, and an hour of reflective group discussion. There will be days when we will stay at our villa and enjoy nature, practice contemplation, and live in silence, and there will be days when we will make excursions into Assisi to
visit the sacred places.
During this retreat we will explore the themes of pilgrimage, contemplation,
silence, and the sacred.
Traveling as a Pilgrim
We are calling this retreat "Pilgrimage to Assisi: A Contemplative Yoga Retreat" and we invite you to reflect on your own reasons for coming. Maybe one of the following quotes from Phil Cousineau’s book “The Art of Pilgrimage: The Seekers Guide to Making Travel Sacred” will speak to you.
PILGRIM, n. A traveler that is taken seriously. —Ambrose Bierce
“Integral to the art of travel is the longing to break away from the stultifying
habits of our lives at home, and to break away for however long it takes to
once again truly see the world around us.”
Glorious is when wandering time is come.
"The mysterious drawing power of pilgrimage is that.. All of the answers are within us, but such is our tendency toward forgetting that we sometimes need to venture to a faraway land to tap our own memory.”
“Belief in a sacred place, a holy temple, a sacred mesa, or an archive of
sacred knowledge, inspires hope in the pilgrim’s soul; an encounter there
transfigures it...If taken in this spirit, pilgrimage is poetry in motion, a
winding road with meaning.”

Her brother, Franco, will offer to take guests on an excursion to hunt Truffle mushrooms with his mushroom hunting dogs in the traditional Umbrian way at an extra cost.
